Jon is a senior traffic modeller with 25 years of experience in the industry. He has worked on numerous major transport projects across Australia and the United Kingdom, with experience ranging from intersection-level analysis through to city-wide transport models and freeway network assessments.
Jon's primary expertise lies in the development and analysis of VISSIM microsimulation models for major infrastructure and development projects. He has significant experience in model calibration and validation and is able to seamlessly interface strategic and meso-scale model outputs with these microsimulation networks.
He has undertaken numerous projects requiring the development and testing of future year traffic forecasts at both corridor and wider network levels. These forecasts can be sourced through an interface with existing strategic models or through a bespoke development process tailored to individual local networks depending on individual project requirements.
Jon is also highly experienced in the testing and optimisation of future network options within the network, including assessment of options provided by clients or developed in-house as part of an optioneering process, ultimately leading to detailed analysis of model output in formats suitable for presentation to key stakeholders, clients, and the general public.
Many of Jon's recent projects have involved contributing as part of a large multidisciplinary team to provide technical input across all stages of project design to support capacity assessment and network performance outcomes. Recent projects include North East Link and West Gate Tunnel in Melbourne, and the Logan Motorway project in Brisbane. Other recent projects include the development of a 9km corridor model for Mickleham Road in Melbourne's north and the development of three independent models to assess the impact of proposed SRLA bus interchanges in Melbourne's east. In 2013, Jon also assisted in the development of traffic modelling guidelines for Transport for New South Wales.
